It's always a bit of a bummer when a game the general populous goes ape for generates no interest. That game looks about as fun as sitting on tacks. I think I may be the only human in existence who has no interest at all in Threes. Do you tear a path straight to the exit to save your health or fight your way to chests and gems with the risk of leaving yourself too little health to make it to the next shop for healing potions?Īnd finally, a confession. Each floor (procedurally generated I think) has mobs, chests (equipment/gold), and gems (stats) between you and the exit. It's kind of a dungeon puzzler roguelike, sort of like Dungelot without the tiles and with more equipping and stats.

Honorable Mention - The Enchanted Cave: I had this one on my watch list because dungeon and pixels. I'll probably treat myself to this for getting through yesterday.

Developing a legit card battler system from a TV episode is particularly impressive. They seem to by trying to hit every genre there is. This is especially with their insane game blitz over the last year or so.
While I haven't seen every episode, including the one this game is apparently based on, I'm a sucker for most things Adventure Time. Pretty challenging and seems like it will be fun.Īnd speaking of card games, I'm not sure why I haven't picked up Card Wars - Adventure Time yet. It's more like a card puzzler, with grid-based play that relies solely on combos achieved with horizontal, diagonal, and vertical combinations that are unique to each card type. This one is single-player, with a campaign, set in world populated with characters from (or at least inspired by) Ittle Dew. Got sucked in by Card City Nights after seeing a bit of praise around. The "disco" part is the disco party that costs premium currency for various durations to keep your animals awake and earning money. This one makes populating your zoo more interesting with tile busting mini-games, instead of endless elevator operating. Still an entertaining game, but sucks they didn't introduce something new.ĭisco Zoo is your new Tiny Tower-ish babysitter game. Instead of using the swiping in innovative ways to expand the game, they're just button replacement. Ninja platformer with lots of polish, except the swipe-only control system that was supposed to be part of its core hook. Picked up Shadow Blade the other day, when it hit $1. Was going to do another yellow alert, yesterday, but a 17 hour work day got in the way. The Last Express and Waking Mars also got the same drop. R-Type is $.99, along with other games from DotEmu. I've gotten some pretty good cards from the 3rd and 4th guys too. And if they deploy grunts, put your grunts in that same lane to cause a sorta stalemate there. Most of the time that seems to work for me. Just use your pushback units to defend against their strongest enemies and pile a bunch of your best offensive weapons in the same lane. As long as they don't deploy anything too crazy on the first turn and you can come out swinging, you should be ok. I think the real key to some of these is getting off to a good start. I actually just beat the 3rd guy (twice), then the 4th guy on the first try. And looking at the IAP, I don't see many cards that would save the day (maybe one that has 4 armor, but one card won't save me). Well, I did beat him once the second guy I've rolled through consistently (though he's not the cakewalk the first is). I know I spoke of really loving the game earlier, but this has kinda put me off a bit. I think you need to buy some of the card packs to have a chance. The first guy is a cake walk, the second guy is pretty hard, then the third is almost impossible.
I think the difficulty curve in this game is pretty steep.
